What's not to love about this kitschy, 1939 art-deco theater? It hosts arthouse flicks and cult favorites, cinema classics, second- and first-run movies, concerts and concert films. They've hosted big-screen competitions for video games like Halo 3 and Rock Band. On the downside, owner and screenwriter Michael France doesn't always show every big-money action movie and despite the name, the theater is a lengthy walk from any actual sand. But t he single-screen, 245-seat movie house is a local favorite and harkens back to a time when going to the movies was an experience, and popcorn came with real butter.

Along with beer and wine, cocktails are available during some special engagements. The theater can be rented for corporate or private parties. It has a large wooden stage suitable for a band and the sound system has been upgraded to Dolby Digital quality.
